Visioning Towards Abolition is a zine about the history of policing in the United States, and ways that carceral frameworks have impacted — and organized — Asian Americans.

Included among these pages are worksheets, a timeline of Asian Americans and the Prison-Industrial Complex, and quotes from luminary abolitionists — as well as resources for alternatives to 9-1-1. Click here, for a digital version of these alternatives.

This zine was created by Angela Chang (writing), and kathy wu (design, illustration, and writing), and was riso-printed and published by Many Folds Press in 2026.

The first edition of this zine was published in 2021, and had evolved from a political education working group hosted by Asian American Resource Workshop. This second edition contains updated resources in Massachussetts and Philadelphia, as well as an updated introduction — as the moment, and the ongoing effects of carceral systems, continues to evolve.

Sold at a sliding scale, $12–36. 75% of proceeds from Visioning Toward Abolition will be donated to Juntos, a Latine immigrant organization in South Philly that provides rapid response to detained community members. The remaining 25% will be kept for future editions of this project.
